The Great Wall of China
It is
a common misconception that the Great Wall
of China was built for defense purposes.
Actually, most of the time during the Great
Wall’s history was spent in peacetime. At
all times, the Great Wall has always been a
bridge across the country to promote foreign
policies, culture, and economy.
Speaking philosophically, this landmark says
well for growth in the assorted soil of war
and peace.
The Great Wall symbolizes an
impregnable power no matter what the
conditions and it is recognized as the
spirit of the people of China.
Chinese history, aside from culture,
economy, and policies is an essential aspect
of China that cannot
be separated from the
Great Wall. The great influence of the Great
Wall on China’s history has a profound
effect even today after it was first built
some two thousand years ago.
China’s Great Wall is the name for the wall
of legendary reputation that was built as a
fortress for the northern side China border
in the third century BC. The name also
includes the remarkable stone and earthen
defense built on the side of another border
on the north side in the fifteenth and
sixteenth centuries AD, years after this
ancient fortress had virtually disappeared.
