Krabi, Thailand
The
fishing town of Krabi is located just off
the Andaman Sea. It is the perfect travel
destination for
those seeking a relaxing day or a short trip to the south
just to catch rays of the sun while
embarking on a bit of rock climbing,
snorkeling, and/or scuba diving.
The scenery on
Krabi Island is
breathtakingly spectacular and beautiful.
The 300 meter lime stones of Nam Ao Bay
conspicuously protrude overhead. Access to
the peninsula by land is cut off by cliffs
making it hard to get to the headland except
by long tail boat.
Ao Nang Beach is just north of Phra Nang
Beach. This beach is used primarily as a
jump-off point for other islands. Along
Krabi River is Phi Phi Family Pier where you
can access Koh Poda just six kilometers on
the south side. After Koh Poda is a
chicken-shaped limestone head called Chicken
Island.
Farther on are the even more beautiful
islands of Hong and Bamboo. Hong Island is
shaped like a horse shoe with a scenic
lagoon which is best accessed during high
tide. This island is approximately 40
kilometers in the northwest direction. On
the south is Bamboo Island (Koh Mai Phai)
with its fine white sands covering almost
the entire island.
